SWASH-ACTORS J-R
KELLY, GENE
His only claim to Swashbuckling fame was his 1948 portrayal of d'Artagnan, in the MGM technicolor classic "The Three Musketeers." Even though he did take a minor stab at being a pirate in "The Pirate," a musical comedy, just before he made the Musketeer film. He also portrayed a silent Swashbuckling actor in "Singing in the Rain." It included some footage from "The Three Musketeers."

POWER, TYRONE
He made a good Swashbuckler, in such films as "The Black Swan," "The Mark of Zorro," "Captain from Castille." In the film, the Black Swan, the director wanted him to grow a beard, to look like a rough sea-dog, but the studio would have it. They thought it would cover the good looks of their actor, so they all agreed on a mustache. George Sanders, the film's villian, was the one who got the beard.

RATHBONE, BASIL
A great character actor - usually playing evil roles. Rathbone was really made famous for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes for years. Yet, the way I think he looked best was behind a sword!
